South Coast Soccer City News

South Coast Soccer City is at the Soccer Nation Expo at the LA Convention Center.  We are at Booth 552 right next to the Big Pitch and have giveaways and a skill testing game.  We also have two teams playing in the Nike5/US Futsal Regional Championship.  Our Men’s Open team plays on Saturday at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, and on Sunday at 10:00 am (all games on Field 6).  Our Boy’s U14 team plays Saturday at 1:00 pm (Field 2) and 3:00 pm (Field 2), and on Sunday at 9:00 am (Field 2).  See you at the Expo!

With Palos Verdes schools closed this Friday (Feb. 12th), South Coast Soccer city will have Youth Pick Up games this Friday from 11 am - 12 noon, 12 noon - 1pm, 1pm - 2 pm, and 2 pm - 3pm.  Cost is $8/hour for non-members and $5/hour for members.  Spend your day off at Soccer City.

During the Ski Week break for Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach schools (Feb 15-19), South Coast Soccer City will host a Brazilian Futsal Camp (5 days, 9-12 every day, $250), a Soccer City Futsal Camp (5 days, 9-3 pm, $250) and a daily Introduction to Fustal Clinic (every day, 9-12, $30/day).  Age and skill restrictions apply to the week-long camps and space is limited.  Check out our website or call us for details.

Dear Soccer City Participants:

In an effort to assist with the earthquake victims in Haiti, we will be accepting used shoe donations at South Coast Soccer City through Friday at 6 pm.  Please be generous and drop off any new or slightly used shoes that you can part with.

Get your soccer/football fix even with the heavy rains and storm predicted for the next 7-10 days.  Soccer City’s 7 indoor fields are perfect for teams looking to practice even though fields are closed due to the weather.  Also, check our website (make sure you login in or register as a member) for our daily schedule and pick-up times for drop in play.

Season 1 of 2010 starts on January 3rd and team sign ups are taking place now.  Youth Leagues will include Boys and Girls teams in U6, U8, U10, U12, U14 and U15 age groups with U6 and U8 teams playing on weekends, U10 teams playing Mondays, U12 teams playing Tuesdays, U14 teams playing Wednesdays and U15 teams playing Thursdays - all weekday games will be played between 4 and 8 pm.  On the Adult Side, games will be played between 8 and 11 pm with the following Divisions playing on specific nights:  Men’s Open First (Wednesday), Men’s Open Second (Thursday), Men’s Over 40 (Wednesday), Women’s Open First (Thursday), Women’s Second/Over 40 (Tuesday), Women’s Third/Over 50 (Tuesday), Women’s Beginners (Thursday), Co-Ed First (Friday) and Co-Ed Second (Saturday).  Cost is $599/team for youth teams and $699/team for adults.  All leagues include at least 8 games (7 regular season and 1+ playoff games).

South Coast Soccer City will be holding 3-hour Introduction to Futsal clinics from 9 a.m to 12 noon every day from December 28th through the 31st.  The clinic will consist of an overall introduction to the five-a-side soccer game and explain the distinctions with 11-a-side soccer, and will include skills and passing drills, skills competitions, and scrimmages.  Clinics will be open to boys and girls ages U10, U12 and U14.  Give your young soccer players the ideal holiday gift by introducing them to this fast paced and exciting form of indoor soccer.  Book online or call us at 888-576-2237 to reserve a spot for your child.

After Day 1 of the 2009 SCSC Cup Youth Tournament, the following teams lead their respective age groups coming into the second and final day:  Boys U14 - Exiles Red Boys 95-96 with 2 wins, 0 losses and 19 GF 14 GA; Boys U12 - Gunners U12 Boys with 2 wins, 0 losses and 25 GF 14GA;  Boys U10 - PVSC Exiles Black with 2 wins, o losses and 24 GF 5 GA; Girls U10 - Nachos’ Girls U9-10 Red with 2 wins, 0 losses and 17 GF 3 GA.  The finals in all age groups will be held at 6 pm today.  Good luck to all the teams on Day 2 and, most importantly, HAVE FUN!

FC United (Team Corona) goes undefeated in its two games on Day 1 of the 2009 Men’s Open SCSC Cup Tournament while three other teams manage one win.  This tight race for the Championship Game resumes Sunday at 3 pm when Chivas Academy plays Hollywood United and FC United faces off against Force Academy at 3 pm.

South Coast Soccer City will host its first annual SCSC Cup over the next week.  While the 2009 tournament is limited to certain categories, the 2010 edition will expand to all age groups and become Southern California’s premiere five-a-side indoor tournament.  This weekend, the Adult Men’s Open Division tournament will see the region’s best futsal and soccer players face off for the Men’s Open title with games taking place between 3 pm and 7 pm.  On Monday and Tuesday the Men’s Over 40 Division will take over South Coast Soccer City with game being held on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

In the Youth Divisions, sign ups have been strong in the Boys U12 and U14 as well as Girls U10 Divisions with possible Boys U10 and Girls U12 and U14 tournaments taking place as well depending on sign ups.  The Youth Tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday (Dec. 21-22) between noon and 7 pm although games may be held earlier if the number of teams increases significantly.
